Coach Pitch Division

What is Coach Pitch?
The Village Baseball Little League Coach Pitch Program (T-Ball) focuses on providing an experience that is grounded in fun and fitness. Our goal is to help grow a child’s love for the game by providing a positive introduction to the fundamentals of baseball. We focus on the importance of team-building and gaining confidence. Coach Pitch is a fun activity that nurtures and grows well-rounded ballplayers.

Who can sign up?
LVLL Coach Pitch Division is open to all boys and girls who are league age 4-6 (birthdate between 09/01/2015 - 08/31/2018) and reside or attend school within the league boundaries.  Click links here to access League Age Chart or League Boundaries.

How does Coach Pitch work?
All players start the season learning the basics of the game and hitting off a tee.  Midway through the season, the kids will be introduced to hitting a ball tossed by a coach from approximately 15 feet away.   They will have the opportunity to attempt to hit the ball within three (3) coach pitches.  If they are unsuccessful, their 4th attempt will be made from the tee.

Are there evaluations that we must attend?
No, the Coach Pitch Division is an introductory division and no prior experience is necessary.

What is the time commitment for Coach Pitch players and families?
Your team will have one (1) 45-60 minute practice weekly.  Practices are scheduled on a weekday after 4 PM.  Once teams are rostered, your head coach will provide the date/time for the weekly practices.  Additionally, teams will play one (1) game a week on either Saturday or Sunday.

When do things get started?
The start of the Coach Pitch season begins at our Hat Ceremony on February 12th and goes through Closing Weekend (approximately June 4th).  Practices will begin on February 14th (Exact day/time will be determined and communicated by the head coach).  Games will start on Opening Weekend - February 26th and 27th.  The exact schedule will be released on or before February 18th.

What if I can’t make every game or practice?
We understand that family commitments and other things come up.  We ask that you work with your coach to let them know in advance what they can expect.

What do I need to buy before practices/games begin?
Each player will need their own equipment - backpack/bag, batting helmet, baseball glove, USA Baseball approved tee ball bat, and shoes with molded cleats.  Although not required, families may opt purchase a second pair of baseball pants and socks for practices.  Additionally, if you elect to purchase a ball, we recommend a tee ball which has a softer exterior than a standard baseball.  Many of these items can be purchased online or at local retailers like Big 5, Dick's Sporting Goods, Target or Walmart.

LVLL will provide the each player with a hat, jersey, baseball pants and socks.

Can I play with a friend or family member who is in the same division?
Yes.  Given that the Coach Pitch Division is not subject to player evaluations and roster drafts, we have the opportunity to accommodate special requests for team placement as roster space permits. The Coach Pitch Division VP will be sending out a required survey in which you can enter your team placement request for consideration.

How can I help?
We are always in need of coaches and team parents.  Be sure and select these areas at the time of enrollment or let the Coach Pitch Division VP know!
